Question : Construction of House hold Toilets

(a) the details of the toilets constructed in the country including Maharashtra during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise;

(b) the funds allocated, released and utilised for the purpose during the said period, State-wise;

(c) the number and percentage of households in the country who have no access to toilets and have to defecate in the open, State-wise;

(d) whether the Government has fixed any targets for construction of toilets, if so, the details of the targets fixed for the next three years, State-wise; and

(e) whether any time-frame has been fixed to provide all the households with toilet facilities and if so, the details thereof?

(a) State/UT-wise, number of Individual household latrines constructed during last three years and the current year is at Annexure-1.

(b) State/UT-wise, central share released and expenditure reported during last three years and the current year is at Annexure-2. The Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) is a demand driven programme therefore no State/UT-wise targets and allocation are made. Based on the demand from the State AIPs and available funds at GOI, the releases are made to them.

(c) State-wise, number and percentage of the households without toilets as on 12.11.2016 is at Annexure-3

(d) Since Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) is a demand driven programme, therefore no State-wise targets are fixed.

(e) Government has set targets to provide all the households with toilet facilities by 2nd October, 2019.
