(a) whether the Union Government has received any proposal from the Government of West Bengal for proper rehabilitation of the refugees;
(b) if so, the details in this regard; and
(c) the time by which the said proposal is likely to be cleared by the Union Government?

(a): Yes, Sir.
(b)&(c): A proposal seeking an amount of Rs.5010.60 crore has been received from Government of West Bengal in July, 2004 for providing physical and economic rehabilitation to displaced persons from erstwhile East Pakistan. The proposal includes infrastructure development of colonies, acquisition of land and economic assistance to displaced persons. It is not possible to indicate a time-frame for taking a decision on the proposal.
