THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE DEPARTMENT OF SPACE (SMT. VASUNDHARA RAJE)
(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. As far as the cyber laws are concerned Government has formulated
the Information Technology Bill, 1999 to provide for legal framework to facilitate electronic
commerce and electronic transaction. It aims to recognise electronic contracts, prevention of
computer crimes, electronic filing/documentation etc. The Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha
on 16.12.1999 and is presently with the Standing Committee. As the space, beyond the air space
is not subject to any nation`s sovereignty according to international law, Government of
India has taken up formulation of policies to protect India`s interests in satellite remote
sensing, satellite communications and other applications.
(c) : Does not arise.
