Question : Renewable Energy in North-Eastern States

(a) whether the Government have planned to effectively use the huge potential of the renewable energy in the North Eastern States, if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor;


(b) whether there is any review or assessment made by the Government regarding the potential of solar, hydro and wind energy in North Eastern States, if so, the details thereof and the outcome thereof;

(c) whether there are any solar parks sanctioned to be set up in different parts of North Eastern States, if so, the details thereof; and

(d) the measures taken by the Government for utilising the solar energy with special focus on North-Eastern States?

(a) & (b) The Ministry of New & Renewable Energy is implementing various programs/schemes for development of renewable energy projects in the country including North Eastern States. A total of 343.99 MW of grid connected renewable energy capacity has been installed in North Eastern States as on 31st December, 2018. The state-wise details are at Annexure I.

The state-wise details of estimated potential available for harnessing solar and small hydro energy in North Eastern States are given in Annexure II.

(c) The Ministry has sanctioned six solar parks in the North Eastern States which are at various stages of implementation. The state wise details of solar parks sanctioned in North-Eastern States are given in Annexure III.

(d) A special provision of 10 percent of annual budgetary allocation has been made by the Ministry for implementation of various renewable energy projects including solar energy in the North Eastern States.

Also, Ministry is providing CFA upto 90% under off-grid & decentralized solar photovoltaic applications program and upto 70% under rooftop solar program for North Eastern states as compared to provision of upto 30% CFA for general category states.
