Question : Naxal and Terrorist Organisations

(a) whether violent activities by the Naxalite and terrorist organisations are increasing in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reaction of the Government thereto;

(c) whether Central Armed Police Forces are being used by the Government to deal with these organisations and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government proposes to strengthen local Police to address the issue; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The security situation in the country is under control. Details of violent incidents in the country are as under:-

(c) CAPF Battalions are made available on request of the State Governments to assist them in maintaining public order. However, the level of CAPF deployment cannot be disclosed in the interest of National Security.

(d) & (e) ‘Public Order’ and ‘Police are State subjects as per provisions of the Constitution of India. However, the Ministry of Home Affairs supplements the efforts and resources of the States through the Schemes for Modernisation of Police Force (MPF) and Security Related Expenditure (SRE).
