Question : Encroachment

Will the Minister of URBAN DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:

(a) whether roadside land in various parts of Delhi has been encroached upon and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether a task force was constituted to remove the encroachment and if so, the details in this regard; and
(c) the extent to which these encroachments have been removed so far?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT

(a) to (c): Public Works Department (PWD), Government of National Capital Territory Delhi (GNCTD) has informed that roadside land are encroached in various parts of Delhi. Details are being updated. 33 Special Tasks Force in 11 Districts have been constituted to remove such encroachments with the help of local police and officers of Delhi Development Authority (DDA), Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCDs) and PWD Departments. Special drives against such encroachments are carried out on regular basis.

North Delhi and South Delhi Municipal Corporations have informed that they maintain roads with the right of way less than 60 feet falling under their jurisdictions. They have further stated that the removal of encroachment is a continuous process and action, whenever required, is taken from time to time at Zonal level with the assistance of local police.

New Delhi Municipal Council has informed that Area Inspector alongwith field staff of Enforcement Department have been deployed for removal of unauthorized encroachment on daily basis.

DDA has informed that no such encroachment has been observed by it in areas under its jurisdiction. DDA has formed Quick Response Teams for removal of such encroachments. As and when reports of such encroachments are received, prompt action is taken to remove them.
