(a) whether there is a rise in the cases of child pornography in the country;
(b) if so, the details thereof alongwith the total number of such cases reported, accused, arrested and action taken against them during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise; and
(c) the steps taken by the Government to stop such cases in future?

(a) & (b) : As per input given by National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), State/UT-wise details of cases registered and persons arrested in cases of Child Pornography during 2007 – 09 is given in Annexure.
(c): The Information Technology Act, 2000 was amended by Information Technology (Amendment) Act, 2008 w.e.f. 27.10.2009. Section 67B of the Act deals with child pornography and provides stringent punishment for publishing or transmitting of material depicting children in sexually explicit act, etc. in electronic form. For the first offence, the punishment can be imprisonment upto five years and fine up to ten lakh rupees and for subsequent offence, the punishment can be imprisonment upto seven years and fine up to ten lakh rupees.
