(a) : The objectives of Central Public Works Department (CPWD) of creating and maintaining Central Government assets are being achieved. Appropriate mechanisms exist in the department to detect and deal with corrupt practices.
(b) to (e) : The works are reviewed internally by the quality control unit/ vigilance unit of the Department from time to time. These are also under the purview of Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and Comptroller & Auditor General (CAG). The details of inspections conducted by the Vigilance Unit during last three years and the current year are given in the statement annexed. The Vigilance Unit has, prima facie, noticed shortcomings in some of the works as indicated in the Statement. After prima facie enquiry, further detailed investigations are in progress.
