(a) the number of new Telephone Exchanges installed in the Tamil Nadu and Karnataka during the last three years, district-wise; and

(a): 359 new telephone exchanges were installed in Tamil Nadu and 371 new telephone exchanges were installed in Karnataka during last three years. The district-wise details are given in annexure-I.

(b): It has been proposed to set up 96 new telephone exchanges in state of Tamil Nadu and 34 in Karnataka during 2002-2003, subject to the availability of funds and equipment. The district-wise details are given in annexure- II.
