(a) whether any proposal is pending with the Government regarding setting up of Rural Information Technology Network;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether any problem has cropped up in the first phase of the new projects; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(DR.SHAKEEL AHMAD):
(a) to (d) Department of Information Technology received a proposal from Government of
Uttranchal for setting up of 328 Community Information Centres (95 at the block level and
233 at the village level) in the States of Uttaranchal. The estimated cost of the proposal
is Rs. 85.6 crores over a period of four years. The proposal is under consideration.
