STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. 235 DUE FOR REPLY ON 9TH JULY, 2019.
(a) to (c): Yes Sir, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare is implementing Mission for Integrated Development of Horticulture (MIDH) for holistic development of horticulture which includes development and production of vegetables. The scheme also provides for sustainable management of resources through Integrated Nutrient Management (INM)/Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and other programmes of the Ministry like Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY), Soil Health Card etc. The implementation of these programs has resulted in increased production of vegetables including Tomato, Onion, Potato (TOP) as under:

Further for post production, storage and marketing of Tomato, Onion, Potato (TOP), Ministry of Food Processing Industries (MoFPI) under Pradhan Mantri Kisan SAMPADA Yojana, has formulated a new Central Sector Scheme i.e. “Operation Greens”: A scheme for integrated development of Tomato, Onion and Potato (TOP) value chain with a budgetary allocation of Rs. 500 crore spread over 2018-19 and 2019-20.
