Question : FUNDING OF MADARSAS



(a) whether the All India Ulama and Mashaikh Board (AIUMB) has urged the Union Government to audit the funding of Madarsas to check influx of Saudi petro dollar in the country;

(b) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto; and

(c) the measures taken/proposed to be taken to check inflow of illegal foreign funds and their use in anti-national activities?

(c): The Government monitors the receipt and utilization of foreign contributions by any ‘person’ in the Country through the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 and Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Rules, 2011 framed under the Act. Besides FCRA, 2010 and FCRR, 2011, various laws of the land such as unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Prevention of Money Laundering Act, Indian Penal code and State Local Laws form the legal structure for monitoring the functioning of associations/ Trusts for curbing anti-national activities in the Country.
