Question : Use of Drone Technology

(a) whether the Government is using drone technology to check unauthorized colonies, prevent illegal constructions and for demarcation of areas and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government is facing problems in adopting the said technology and if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the efforts made by the Government to address the said problems and the outcome of the said efforts?

STATEMENT

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO LOK SABHA STARRED QUESTION NO. *349 REGARDING “USE OF DRONE TECHNOLOGY” FOR ANSWER ON DECEMBER 12, 2019

(a)to(c): ‘Land’ and ‘Colonization’ are State subjects. Therefore, it is upto the respective State Government to decide about the process and use of technology including drone technology for purposes like checking unauthorized colonies, prevent illegal construction and for demarcation of areas.

Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (GNCTD) had informed in January, 2019 that they have got a Drone survey done of one unauthorised colony namely Vikas Vihar and are exploring possibility of delineating boundaries of Unauthorized Colonies in Delhi by using drone based Survey.

Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is in the process of preparing Master Plan 2041 for Delhi. As a part of this process, DDA intends to undertake a detailed aircraft / UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle or Drone) captured GIS (Geographic Information System) mapping of existing land use and building use in the city. DDA has invited Request for proposal (RFP) in this regard.
