(a) to (c) There is adequate availability of foodgrains in the country and no report
on famine conditions have been received. Foodgrains at Below Poverty Line (BPL) rates have
been allocated to Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Orissa and Rajasthan for distribution in the drought
affected areas. In addition, about 15 lakh MTs. of foodgrains have been allocated to the
drought affected States free of cost under Food for Work Programme.
