Question : SCHOLARSHIP TO SCHOOL DROP-OUTS



(a) whether the NCERT has decided to provide 100 scholarships to schools drop-outs who have completed VII/VIII but could not complete their studies due to financial or family constraints;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the selection process adopted by the NCERT; and

(c) the extent to which this scheme is likely to improve the position of drop-outs from class VII/VIII?

(a) & (b) Under the Scheme of National Talent Search Scholarship for drop-outs, NCERT has offered 100 scholarships for a period of one year only on a trial basis for children who have dropped out of regular schooling after class VIII. The selection process would be similar to that in the present Talent Search Scheme.

(c) The students are expected to join mainstream schooling from Class XI onwards.
