Question : LINKING OF PMGSY WITH SAANSAD ADARSH GRAM YOJANA



(a) whether the Government proposes to amend the rules for linking the villages identified under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) with Pradhan Mantri; Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY):

(b) if so, the details thereof:

(c) whether the targets fixed under the second phase of PMGSY in the country including the State of Rajasthan have been achieved; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b) Rural Roads’ is a State subject and Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is a one-time special intervention to provide rural connectivity, by way of a single all-weather road, to the eligible unconnected habitations in the core network. The Ministry of Rural Development has recently amended the PMGSY guidelines with a view to accord priority in the selection of PMGSY roads for new connectivity as well as Upgradation of roads leading to the eligible habitations in the Gram Panchayats/villages identified by the Members of Parliament under Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY).

(c) & (d) PMGSY- II was launched in the year 2013 to consolidate the existing rural road network. Under PMGSY-II, it has been decided to upgrade 50,000 km. road length during the 12th Five year plan period. As per the recommendations of the Inter-Ministerial Empowered Committee, the Ministry of Rural Development has issued sanctions to 7 States namely Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat, Haryana, Karnataka, Maharashtra & Uttar Pradesh covering 11,234 km. road length of road works under PMGSY-II and the 850 Kms. road length have been completed as reported by the States (up to January, 2015). This Ministry has not received any proposal from Rajasthan for Upgradation of road works under PMGSY-II.
