Question : ENCROACHMENT OF RAILWAY LAND



(a) whether the Yavatmal Railway Station land has been encroached upon by unauthorized settlers who had put up jhuggies on the land;

(b) if so, the steps taken by the Railways to free land from encroachment;

(c) whether the Railways have any plan to utilize the 7.90 hectares of vacant land for developing a park; and

(d) if so, the estimated time to be taken for developing a park?

(a) to (d): Presently there is no encroachment on railway land at Yavatmal station. There were encroachments on Railway land near Yavatmal station and the same were removed in December 2006 with the help of local Police. To prevent encroachments in future, Railway has undertaken mass plantation and fencing on the Railway land. Development of park on this land is not contemplated at present.
