Question : STATUS OF AIRPORTS AT TIRUPATI AND WARANGAL



(a) whether the Ministry has set in motion the process of declaring the domestic airport at Tirupati an international one;

(b) if so, the details worked out so far;

(c) whether the Government has received any proposal to set up airport at Warangal; and

(d) if so, the action taken thereon?

(a) & (b) Yes, Sir. The Government have decided that the Tirupati airport be made operational as International airport after requisitic facilities have been put in place.

(c), & (d) Yes, Sir. An Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between Government of Andhra Pradesh & Airports Authority of India on 30.3.2007 for the development of Warangal Airport. Master Plan indicating the development works has been forwarded to State Government for acquisition of required land.
