Question : OPTICAL FIBRE CABLE



(a) the number of times the applications were invited for Tender of Optical Fibre Cable Lying work by the Transmission and Installation Directorate in Indore;

(b) whether any permission was given to contractors to apply for the tender more than one;

(c) whether any permission was given to any contractor to apply for the tender without completing or finishing same work;

(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the reasons therefor;

(e) whether any complaints have been received against the O.F.C. work to the department;

(f) if so, the action taken thereon; and

(g) the measures taken/proposed to be taken in this regard?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF COMMUNICATIONS (SHRI TAPAN SIKDAR)

(a) 30(thirty) tenders were floated at different times by DGM Transmission Installations, Indore for Optical Fibre Cable laying works of about 313 sections.

(b) No permission was required since any contractor, if eligible, can be given forms for any number of sections.

(c) No such permission has been given to any contractor.

(d) Does not arise in view of (c) above.

(e) to (g): Yes, Sir. One complaint relating to the quality of OFC work in that area was received and the case is being investigated by the Vigilance Unit of the M.P. Telecom Circle.
