Question : DEVELOPMENT OF NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION



(a) whether the National Capital Region Planning Board propose to evolve a strategy for the development of NCR in the next few years;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the development of NCR is being ignored by the State Governments/Union Government;

(d) if so, whether any time bound programme is likely to be prepared for the proper development of NCR; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b): National Capital Region Planning Board was set up in 1985 for the harmonised and balanced development of the Region has prepared the Regional Plan 2001, Sub Regional Plans and Functional Plans on Transport (1995), Power (1996), Telecommunication (1997) and Industry (1998). These lay down strategies for the development of the National Capital Region. It is now undertaking preparation of Regional Plan 2021.

(c)to(e): No, Sir. The Regional Plan is being implemented by the Central Ministries and the Member States of NCR through a set of inter-related policies and programmes aimed at the development of the Region ande Core Regional Infrastructure of Power, Road, Rail, Telecommunication Network and Economic Activities.
