(a) whether the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission keeps information regarding acts of monopolies and unfair trade practices etc.;
(b) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(c) the number of cases undertaken by the Commission during the last year?

(a) & (b) The Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Act, 1969 under which the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission has been established does not make it obligatory for the Commission to keep information regarding acts of monopolies and unfair trade practices. Only based on a complaint or a reference or an information or on an application made by Director General (Investigation & Regulation) or on its own it enquires into monopolistic, restrictive or unfair trade practices.
(c) 282 cases were disposed of by the Commission in the calendar year 2005.
