Question : FOREIGN ASSISTANCE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF ROADS UNDER PMGSY



(a) whether the Government has taken any loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and other foreign financial institutions for the development of rural roads in the country;

(b) if so, the details thereof including the amount of loan and its utilisation during the last three years and the current year, State/UT and year-wise; and

(c) the details of projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) executed with the help of foreign financial assistance?

(a) &(b) Yes, Madam. The Government has taken Loan from Asian Development Bank (ADB) and World Bank for the development of rural roads under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). The details of Loan taken from ADB and its utilization during the last three years and the current year in respect of the different States i.e. Assam, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and West Bengal is given at Annexure-A. . The details of Loan taken from World Bank and its utilization during the last three years and the current year in respect of the different States i.e. Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Meghalaya, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand is given at Annexure-B.

(c) The details of projects executed with the help of loan from ADB and World Bank under PMGSY is given at Annexure-C and Annexure-D respectively.
