Question : Industrial Training Institute

(a) the details of Industrial Training Institute (ITIs) functioning in the country, State/UT-wise;

(b) whether there is a need to improve the quality of training in such Institutes functioning at present, if so, the details thereof and the steps taken by the Government in the regard;

(c) whether there is any proposal to establish new ITI centers in the country, State/UT-wise including Rajasthan to impart industrial training to a large number of youth and to develop their skills; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

Answer given by the minister

(a) Details of Industrial Training Institute (ITIs) functioning in the country, State/UT-wise is placed at Annexure I.

(b) Government have taken the following steps to improve the quality of training in Industrial Training Institutes:
(i) Introduction of new trades in the year 2018 to keep pace with Technological innovations viz: Internet of Things, Additive Manufacturing Technician (3D Printing) and Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA)/Drone Pilot etc.
(ii) All the courses under Craftsmen Training Scheme have been made National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF) compliant.
(iii) Creation of 22 Regional Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (RDSDEs) and 14 no. of National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI) extension centers by way of restructuring of existing Regional Directorate Apprenticeship Training RDATs & NSTIs so as to monitor the activities of all types of Skill Training across all the 36 States/UTs.
(iv) Grant of affiliation to two ITIs for Divyangs at Ahmadabad & Kolkata and affiliation for one ITI for Army at Pune, Maharashtra.
(v) Issuance of e-Certificate through NCVT MIS portal for trainees under different schemes.
(vi) Development of question bank for all schemes under Directorate General of Training (DGT) i.e. Craftsmen Training Scheme (CTS), Apprenticeship Training Scheme (ATS) and Crafts Instructor Training Scheme (CITS).
(vii) Launching of Bharat Skills- Learning Management System (LMS)–a central repository for skills which provides NSQF Curriculum, course material, videos, Question Banks, Mock Tests, etc. for students and Instructors.

(c) and (d) Establishing new ITIs is a concurrent subject matter between State & Central Government. New ITIs will be established as per the demand in respective States.
