(a) the total number of mobile subscribers in the country as on date, State-wise including Delhi;
(b) the comparative rise in mobile connections in Delhi during the last three years;
(c) whether landline phone connections have also increased in the city and if so, the details thereof during the last three years; and
(d) whether Government proposes to increase the mobile tower connectivity in Lutyen’s Zone and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) The service area wise total number of mobile subscribers in the country including Delhi as on 31.12.2016 is given in the Annexure.
(b)&(c) The mobile and land line connections in Delhi during the last years are as under:

(d) For improvement of mobile services in Lutyen’s Zone- Delhi, the Department of Telecommunications has interacted with the Ministry of Urban Development, and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to facilitate the use of government buildings/ estate for installation of telecom infrastructure like tower, pole, Base Transceiver Station etc. The permitted space is shared by all willing telecom service providers and caters to 2G, 3G, and 4G services.
The Ministry of Urban Development has allocated 15 locations out of which installations have been completed at 6 locations and the civil works are in progress/likely to start soon at rest of the locations. Similarly, NDMC has permitted installation works at 18 locations out of 28 locations approved by Delhi Urban Arts Commission. The civil works is in progress at 2 locations and will start at other locations progressively. In the meanwhile, NDMC has permitted the use of Mobile-BTS platform as an interim solution at 12 locations.
This initiative has led to an improvement in mobile services to users in Lutyen’s Area, Delhi and will further improve progressively.
