Question : Opening of new Universities in Bihar

(a) whether the Government proposes to open new Universities in Bihar State on the lines of the Varanasi Hindu University established by Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya; and
(b) if so, the details thereof?
(c) the present status of two Central Universities i.e. Gaya and Motihari in Bihar State;
(d) the amount sanctioned and released for each the Central University, the details thereof, year-wise;
(e) the time schedule fixed to make both the Central Universities fully functional in Bihar State; and
(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (f) Central University of South Bihar (Gaya) is fully functional since 2010 and Mahatma Gandhi Central University (Motihari) became functional w.e.f. 3rd February, 2016 with the assumption of charge by the first Vice Chancellor. The details of amount sanctioned and released for Central University of South Bihar and Mahatma Gandhi Central University for the last four years are as follows:-
