Question : FUNDS UNDER ACTION PLAN ON CLIMATE CHANGE



(a) whether proposals of some State Governments for grant of funds under Action Plan for climate change are pending with the Union Government;

(b) if so, the details thereof and the reasons for pendency;

(c) whether a draft study in respect of `State strategy and Action Plan on climate change` has been received from State Government of Himachal Pradesh for granting funds;

(d) if so, the details and the present status thereof along with the time since when the said proposal is pending and the reasons for pendency; and

(e) the time by which said proposal is likely to be sanctioned?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) FOR ENVIRONMENT, FORESTS AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI PRAKASH JAVADEKAR)

(a)& (b) Twenty eight States have prepared State Action Plan on Climate Change (SAPCC). Each SAPCC provides activities with an estimated budget for implementing these activities in the State. The funding for undertaking these activities are to be met out of the existing budget allocation of the State, financial supports from the relevant Ministries of Government of India and through multilateral/bilateral assistance.

(c) to (e) Government of Himachal Pradesh has submitted SAPCC with an estimated budget of Rs. 1560 crores. The National Steering Committee on Climate Change in the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, has endorsed the SAPCC of Himachal Pradesh.
