(a) to (c): Yes, Madam. The National Sample Survey Office (NSSO) through its Socio-Economic Surveys on Households has also collected information on maternal mortality, morbidity and other health-related indicators. The information collected also includes details on ailments reported (requiring hospitalization or otherwise) and whether the ailment was due to malnutrition.
The details of information collected on these items are as under:
Maternal mortality: Age at death, time of death (pre-natal, post-natal, during delivery, etc.), medical attention received before death and whether hospitalized.
Malnutrition: Ailments reported (requiring hospitalization or otherwise), information on whether the ailment was due to malnutrition.
Morbidity (For any ailment reported to have been suffered during the last 15 days, and for any case of hospitalization during the past one year): Age of ailing person, nature of ailment, duration of ailment, source of treatment received (if any), reason for no treatment (if none), whether specific medical goods and services were received free or partly free, and break-up of expenditure on medical treatment (surgery, medicines, diagnostic tests, hospital bed charges, attendant charges, etc.).
The last four surveys of NSSO, in which data on above indicators were collected, were conducted respectively in 1986-87 (NSS 42nd round), 1995-96 (NSS 52nd round), 2004 (NSS 60th round) and 2014 (NSS 71st round). Results of the NSSO survey for all these rounds (except 71st round) have been published in the respective NSSO Reports.
