Question : PUNISHMENT TO CRIMINALS



(a) whether it is a fact that the new laws are needed to tackle new types of crimes as reported in the `Hindu` dated the October 18, 2004;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether in the absence of any clear cut law against any crime, the judiciary have failed to provide any punishment to the persons involved in such crimes;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government propose to take any action in this regard; and

(f) if so, the details in this regard?

(a) to (f) : In view of the changing socio-economic and environment in the country, the review of all Laws including these relating to Criminal Justice System is undertaken by the Law Commission and its recommendations are considered for enactment of suitable legislation or amendments to the existing Laws.
