(a): The gross wind power potential in the country has been estimated at about 45,000 MW. The technical potential, which can be tapped at present is, however, about 13,000 MW.

(b): A total wind power capacity of 1870 MW has so far been installed in the country which is 14.4% of the present exploitable potential.

(c): A wind power capacity addition of 1500 MW is envisaged during the Tenth Plan period.

(d): The exploitable wind power potential in Tamil Nadu is about 1900 MW. A wind power capacity of 990 MW has been installed in the State so far.
