Question : ESIC Hospitals

(a)the number of ESIC hospitals providing their services across the country at present;
(b)the details of the criteria to set up new ESIC hospitals;
(c)whether the Government is working on any scheme to set up ESIC hospitals in the small cities and if so, the details thereof;
(d)whether the Government plans for ESIC Dispensary-cum-Branch office in every district of the country;
(e)if so, the details thereof along with the places/districts wherein the proposed ESIC Dispensary-cum-Branch offices are planned to be set up, State-wise including Gujarat; and
(f)the time by when these are likely to be set up?

(a): At present, there are 46 ESIC Hospitals providing their services across the country.

(b): Details of the criteria to set up new ESI Hospitals is placed at Annexure-I.
(c): Setting up of ESI Hospital in an area is approved based on the number of Insured Persons in that area regardless of size of that city. Accordingly, under expansion plan, ESI Corporation is working to make provision of medical services including setting up of ESI Hospital in newly implemented area, as per ESIC norm.

(d): Yes, Sir.
(e): ESIC has set up 29 Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices which are functional. The details of the 29 Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices are enclosed at Annexure-II.
ESIC has further approved setting up of another 306 Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices in the various districts of the country. The details of the proposed 306 Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices are at Annexure-III.
(f): Action has already been initiated for Recruitment, etc. The Dispensary-cum-Branch Offices will be set up as soon as the necessary infrastructure, including manpower are available.
