Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT (SMT. D. PURANDESWARI)

(a) to (c): Lakshdweep native students who are original inhabitants belonging to Scheduled Tribes are provided concessions including financial assistance under the Lakshdweep Scholarship Rules. All ST students of Lakshdweep who pursue recognized post- matriculation courses in recognized institutions are also entitled to the Post-Matric Scholarship for STs, which is a scheme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Under this scheme, the full amount of the fee charged by Government schools/colleges is reimbursed. In respect of seats in private institutions filled up on merit or competition basis, fees are reimbursed to the extent equal to that for students in Government institutions. For management quota seats, fees reimbursed are the same as for comparable courses in Government institutions, but the number of students is limited to the reservation quota for STs in the concerned State/UT.

(d): No, Sir.

(e): Does not arise.
