Question : INSURANCE OF DOCTORS HANDLING HIV AND HEPATITIS- B CASES



(a) whether insurance companies have refused to provide insurance cover to doctors and practitioners of pnvate and Government medical hospitals who are handling cases of HIV, Hepatitis-B;

(b) if so, the reasons therefor; and

(c) the positive measures being taken by the Government to provide insurance cover to such professionals?

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE AND COMPANY AFFAIRS (SHRI ANANDRAO VITHOBA ADSUL):

(a) The Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) and the General Insurers` (Public Sector) Association of India (GIPSA) have informed that they have not refused to provide insurance cover to doctors and practitioners of private and Government medical hospitals who are handling cases of HIV, Hepatitis-B.

(b) and (c) Do not arise.
