Question : Norms for Controlling and Functioning of Religious Places


(a) whether famous and world fame religious places like temples, Mosque, dargah, church and gurudwaras etc. are functioning under the Government Control and if so, the details of the names and places along with the date from when they are operating, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has laid down certain norms for controlling and functioning of all the above said religious places and if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether it is a fact that the Government has implemented uniform rules and regulations in respect of the above said all the religious places and if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Government has taken control of all these religious places and operating them under the uniform norms and if so, the details thereof; and

(e) whether the Government proposes to implement the uniform norms in all the States and bring all these religious places under its control and operations and if so, the time by which the same is likely to be done and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) Monuments of national importance are declared protected and are maintained by Archaeological Survey of India, which also include ancient temples, mosques, dargahs, churches etc. State-wise details of protected monuments/sites is at Annexure.

(b) to (e) All the protected monuments and sites are maintained as per the provisions of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958 and Rule 1959 made there under.
