Question : KANGRA AND KULLU AIRPORTS



(a) whether the Union Government is considering the proposal of the Government of Himachal Pradesh for extension of Runways at Kangra and Kullu Airports;

(b) if so, the details thereof with the financial allocation for 2007-08 for these projects; and

(c) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a), (b) & (c) At Kangra airport runway extension work has already been completed. For Kullu airport, a feasibility study for extension of runway by bridging river Beas has been conducted.

The financial allocation for 2007-08 for Kangra airport for levelling of the basic strip of runway and drainage works is Rs. 30 lacs. For Kullu airport, Rs. 1 crore has been allocated for extension of runway and allied works including river training works.
