(a) to (c) : The budget outlays approved by the Government for Rural Electrification
Corporation for the years 1998 and 1999 are given below :

It would be seen that the change in financial outlay for REC in the year 1999-
2000 in comparison to the preceding financial year was very marginal.
(d) & (e) : Not withstanding the above position, REC disbursed financial assistance
of Rs.362 crore to Gujarat during 1999-2000 as compared to the disbursement of Rs.313
crore during the year 1998-99. As compared to 26262 pumpsets energised during 1998-
99 in Gujarat, 26665 pumpsets were energised during 1999-2000.
