(a) & (b): Yes, Sir. The investment in pharmaceutical research has picked
up in recent years in the country because of several steps and measures
taken by the Government to promote pharmaceutical research. The annual
investment made by the Government in this area during each of the last
three years was Rs.29.71 crores in 2003-04, Rs.53.40 crores in 2004-05 and
Rs.148.29 crores in 2005-06.
