Question : UNIT AREA OF CROP INSURANCE UNDER NAIS



(a) the criteria laid down to determine the unit area of crop insurance under National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS);

(b) whether the Government of Madhya Pradesh has submitted any proposal to the Union Government to consider Patwari circle/Halka as a unit of NAIS;

(c) if so, whether the Union Government has forwarded its approval to the Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited which is the implementing agency; and

(d) if so, the time by which approval is likely to be accorded?

(a): As per provision of the Scheme each participating State/UT is allowed to notify any unit area of insurance i.e. block, tehsil, mandal, hobli, patwari circle, gram panchayat etc., if the implementing State has the capacity to undertake requisite number of Crop Cutting Experiments (CCEs) under single series of CCEs for making assessment of yield.

(b): Yes, Sir.

(c): The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Ltd. (AIC) which is the Implementing Agency (IA) of the National Agricultural Insurance Scheme (NAIS) has already apprised the State Government about the conditions viz. undertaking requisite number of CCEs, maintenance of single series of CCEs etc. for reducing the unit area of insurance to Patwari Halka.

(d): Does not arise.
