(a) & (b) Targets for skill development in the country are huge for the coming years, which implies that fund requirement over the next five years are also expected to be high. It is the shared responsibility of all sta- keholders including the Central government, State gove- rnments, industry and individuals to pitch in for arra- nging the required resources.
(c) to (e) The government has roped in private support through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), a public private partnership entity to promote private training providers for skill development through provi- sion of loans, grants and equity for the purpose of skill development. The government, through NSDC, has also set up Sector Skill Councils (SSCs), which are industry-led bodies, to provide the industry connect in skill training. Till date, 37 SSCs have been approved by the NSDC Board.
