(a) to (e): Hon’ble Finance Minister in his budget speech (2018-19) had announced setting up of two Defence Industrial Corridors in the Country. In pursuance to the said announcement, it was decided to set up one of the corridors in Uttar Pradesh and the other in Tamil Nadu. At present, there is no proposal of setting up of more Defence Industrial Corridors in the country.
Preference to ex-servicemen for employment in defence industries is given as per DOP&T Notification No. 36034/1/2006-Estt (Res) dated 4th Oct, 2012, amending DOP&T Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Central Govt. Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, 10% of the vacancies in Group ‘C’ posts and 20% of the vacancies in Group ‘D’ posts, including permanent vacancies filled initially on temporary basis and temporary vacancies which are like to be made permanent or likely to continue for three months and more, to be filled by direct recruitment in any year shall be reserved for being filled by ex-servicemen. In terms of these orders Ordnance Factories are also required to reserve and recruit Ex-servicemen against 10% of the vacancies in Group ‘C’ posts and 20% of the vacancies in Group ‘D’ posts. Further as per Govt. of India, Ministry of Finance (BPE) OM No. 6/55/79-BPE(GM-I) dated 13th March, 1980, 14.5% vacancies in Group ‘C’ posts and 24.5% vacancies in Group ‘D’ posts are reserved for ex-servicemen in Central Public Sector Undertakings including Defence Public Sector Undertakings. This includes 4.5% for disabled Ex-servicemen and dependents of those killed in action.
