(a)&(b): No, Sir. Establishment of wind energy parks, which is commonly known as wind
farm projects, primarily depends upon availability of the requisite wind speed and availability
the electricity grid to evacuate power. 211 potential sites have been identified in 13 States
and UTs that could be considered suitable for installation of wind farm projects. State-wise
information on the cumulative installed capacity of wind power projects is given in Annexure.
(c),(d)&(e): Wind Farm Projects are mostly set up as commercial projects by private sector.
The total capacity of wind power projects installed so far in the country is 5340 MW.
A target of 1000 MW has been fixed for the Year 2006-07. The Government provides
partial financial support for setting up limited demonstration wind farm projects with the
objective to open up potential areas for commercial development of wind power.
Demonstration Wind Farm Projects of 68 MW capacity have been set up in the states
of Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan,
Tamil Nadu and West Bengal.
