(a) whether there has been a spurt in the criminal activities from the rented houses in various parts of the country, including Delhi;
(b) if so, whether the Government contemplate to take any concrete steps to check it; and
(c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (c): Some instances of misuse of rented accommodations by terrorist and criminal elements have come to the notice of Delhi Police. The Commissioner of Police, Delhi in exercise of the powers vested in him has issued orders which makes it mandatory for the landlords to inform the police about the renting of their premises. The police personnel have been directed to carry out door to door verification in their areas to prevent the criminals to operate from rented houses.
