Question : MAINTENANCE OF COACHES

(a) whether the Railways have received complaints about poor maintenance of compartments/coaches in the long distance Express trains, particularly East- bound ones being infected with pests and insects; and

(b) if so, the action taken/proposed to be taken in this regard?

Answer given by the minister

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (SHRI MANOJ SINHA)

(a) & (b): Complaints/references are received from passengers regarding maintenance of coaches in trains running across Indian Railways. Similarly complaints/references regarding presence of pests and insects are also received from trains moving in various directions including East-bound ones.

For proper upkeep, coaches are being maintained during their prescribed maintenance schedule in coaching depots. To control the menace of pest and insects in coaches, Pest and rodent control treatment is being carried out by Professional Agencies in coaching depots.

These complaints/references are acted upon appropriately by Railways and suitable corrective action is initiated to prevent recurrence.
