Question : Jan Aushadhi Stores

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) whether Jan Aushadhi Stores (JAS) are functional in Karnataka, Maharashtra & Uttar Pradesh;

(b) if so, the State-wise details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(c) whether the matter regarding functioning of JAS in Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh has been taken up with the concerned State Governments and if so, the outcome thereof; and

(d) the total number of JAS set up/functioning in backward Scheduled Castes dominated areas of the country including Karnataka, Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh and the number of JAS proposed to be opened in the said areas including Bangalore and Bellary districts in Karnataka and Sitapur and Hardoi districts in Uttar Pradesh, location-wise?

(a) Yes Madam.
(b) & (c) The State-wise details of functional ‘Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP) Kendras’ in Karnataka, Maharashtra & Uttar Pradesh are as under:

1. Karnataka 103 A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed with Government of Karnataka for opening of 200 PMBJP Kendras in Government Hospital premises.
2. Maharashtra 138 A MoU has been signed with Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) for opening of PMBJP Kendras at various Bus Terminals under MSRTC.
3. Uttar Pradesh 262 Government of Uttar Pradesh may sign a MoU for opening of 1000 PMBJP Kendras in the Government Hospitals.

(d) There is no separate provision for opening PMBJP Kendras in Backward/Scheduled Castes dominated areas of the country. However, in the scheme guidelines, provision has been made for SC/ST/Differently abled applicants to provide medicines worth Rs. 50,000/- in advance within the incentive of Rs. 2.5 lakhs which will be provided in the form of 15% of monthly sales subject to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000/- per month upto a total limit of Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

As on 13.07.2017, 1957 PMBJP Kendras are functional in 31 States/UTs of the country including Backward/Scheduled Castes dominated areas. The details of functional PMBJP Kendras in Bangalore and Bellary Districts of the Karnataka and Sitapur and Hardoi Districts of the Uttar Pradesh and also, the PMBJP Kendras to be opened in the said districts are as under:
