Question : ROBs

(a) whether Road Over Bridges (ROBs) are being constructed on National Highways (NHs) under the Sethu Bharatam Scheme, if so, the details of ROBs that are proposed to be constructed under the Scheme, State-wise;

(b) whether the Government has taken any measures to mobilise funds for completely certain ROB projects which were incomplete/pending due to lack of funds, if so the details thereof;

(c) the amount spent on implementing ROB projects on NHs in the country during the last three years;

(d) whether the Government has completed feasibility study of new ROB projects and the auditing of bridges in the country, if so, the details thereof, including the number of bridges in the dilapidated condition; and

(e) the number of other steps taken/to be taken by the Government to make bridges strong and durable in the country?

(a) to (c) Yes Madam, initially the Ministry has identified 208 number of level crossings for construction of ROBs under Setu Bharatam through budgetary support (Details Annexed). No ROB under Setu Bharatam is incomplete or pending due to lack of fund. At present, an amount of Rs. 86.25 Crore have been spent on implementation.

(d) Feasibility study of 87 ROBs under Setu Bharatam have been completed. The visual condition survey of bridges on National Highways has been undertaken under Indian Bridge Management System. 147 bridges have been found to be under rated requiring detailed study.

(e) IRC guidelines (IRC 112-2011) relating to design of bridges have been issued to make bridges durable in various exposure conditions. Government has decided to have standard drawings on the basis of above guidelines.
