Question : Expert Committee Report on Wages of Nurses

(a) whether the Hon’ble Supreme Court has directed the Government to submit suggestion that would help improve the conditions of the nursing community in the country and if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the expert committee constituted by the Government in this regard has submitted its report and if so, the number of pages and major highlights of the report submitted;

(c) whether any suggestions have been sought from States/UTs in this regard and if so, the details thereof along with the progress made so far; and

(d) the steps taken/being taken to implement the recommendations of the said report thereby benefitting the nursing community in the country

(a) to (c) As per the directions of Hon’ble Supreme Court a Committee of Experts was constituted under the Chairpersonship of Director General of Health Services to look into the working conditions and pay of nurses working in private hospitals and nursing homes. After examining information from States and other stakeholders, the committee has submitted its recommendations (Annexed).

(d) The recommendations of the Committee were forwarded by this Ministry to all the States and Union Territories.
