Question : Hindi Teaching Institutions

(a) whether it is a fact that a large number of foreigners are visiting India to learn Hindi;
(b) if so, the details thereof during the last two years; and
(c) the steps taken/being taken by the Government to improve the infrastructure of Hindi teaching
institutions in view of the rising number of foreign students visiting in the country to learn Hindi?

(a) Yes Sir.
(b) Kendriya Hindi Sansthan (KHS), an autonomous body under this Ministry conducts various
programmes to cater to the need of foreigners visiting India to learn Hindi. The details of foreign
students studied at KHS under the International Hindi Teaching Programme, during the last two
years is as mentioned below -
(c) KHS organizes following courses for the foreign students under the scheme for Propagation of
Hindi Abroad - Hindi Language Proficiency Certificate, Hindi Language Proficiency Diploma, Hindi
Language Advanced Diploma, Post Graduate Hindi Diploma. The foreign students of KHS
International Hindi Teaching Programme are taught Hindi through traditional classroom teaching
method along with the modern ICT equipped teaching aids. KHS also provides facility of wi-fi
Internet in the campus, Digital Language Lab, Computer Lab and Multimedia Class Room for
ensuring the quality of Hindi Language Learning. KHS also has a library which caters all the
academic needs of these students. Moreover University Grants Commission also gives grants to
Universities for the establishment and upgradation of Hindi Departments.
