Question : New Airports in Telengana

(a) whether the Government of Telangana has requested for sanction of six airports in Telangana;
(b) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Union Government in this regard so far;
(c) whether Airports Authority of India (AAI) has conducted obstacle limitation surface survey, soil testing, etc. at the above airports;
(d) if so, whether AAI has submitted its report; and
(e) if so, the findings of AAI and the time by which the Union Government would take all statutory clearances and start work on these projects?

Minister of State in the Ministry of CIVIL AVIATION (GEN. (DR) V. K. SINGH (RETD))

(a) to (e): The Government of Telangana has proposed to take up development of three Greenfield Airports at (i) Jakaranpally, Nizamabad District (ii) Palwancha, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, (iii) Mahabubnagar District and three Brownfield Airports at (i) Mamnoor, Warangal District (ii) Basanth Nagar, Peddapally District & (iii) Adilabad in Adilabad District and has appointed Airports Authority of India (AAI) for conducting Techno-Feasibility studies for the six (6) airports. AAI has submitted the final report for all the above six airports to the State Government. The timeline for initiation of these airport projects depends upon further action by the State Government of Telangana.
