Question : LOAN RELIEF PLAN FOR RIOTS VICTIMS



(a) whether the Government is aware of the fact that the benefits of economic package released as `loan relief plan` for the victims of 1984 riots has not reached the affected people of different States equally;

(b) if so, whether the Government proposes to make arrangements of lump sum relief to all the affected people;

(c) if so, the details in this regard;

(d) the total number of the victims of 1984 riots, State-wise; and

(e) the details of the victims given relief so far?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF HOME AFFAIRS (SHRI S. REGUPATHY)

(a) to (c): Under the Debt Relief Scheme (Revised) for 1984 riot affected borrowers declared by Ministry of Finance, relief was extended by way of write off of eligible loans taken from banks/financial institutions upto and inclusive of Rs. 50,000/- as principal granted on 1st November, 1984 or afterwards subject to certain conditions.

(d) and (e): As per information given by Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi, 19332 victims of 1984 riots have been given relief so far as per following details:
