Question : Assessment under TSC

(a) whether the Union Government has assessed the performance of the various States under the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC);
(b) if so, the details thereof including the deficiencies/irregularities noticed State/ UT-wise;
(c) the corrective measures taken or proposed to be taken by the Government to check recurrence of such kind of deficiency/irregularity in future;
(d) the number of Panchayats awarded Nirmal Gram Puraskar in the country including those in the State of Bihar during each of the last three years and the current year, State-wise;
(e) the funds released for the purpose during the said period, State-wise; and
(f) the other steps taken by the Government to achieve the target set for TSC by involving local bodies in the country particularly in the rural areas?

(a) to (c) In order to address the bottlenecks in the Total Sanitation Campaign (TSC), this programme was restructured as Nirmal Bharat Abhiyaan (NBA) in 2012. NBA was further revamped as Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) [SBM(G)] which was launched with effect from 2nd October, 2014 with the aim to attain Open Defecation Free (ODF) India by 2nd October, 2019.
(d) Nirmal Gram Puraskar was discontinued from the year 2015 onwards.
(e) Question does not arise.
(f) TSC programme was restructured as NBA in 2012 which was further revamped as SBM(G) with effect from 2nd October, 2014 with the aim to attain ODF India by 2nd October, 2019.
