Question : NATIONAL TOURISM POLICY

(a) whether the Government have prepared draft of National Tourism Policy;

(b) if so, whether the proposed policy will open floodgates to private sector investmentin the tourism sector;

(c) if so, whether this policy would, for the first time, stress upon a need for collaborative effort on the part of Ministries of Tourism, Civil Aviation, External Affairs, Home and Culture in developing tourism into a major industry;

(d) if so, the extent to which this policy has been accepted; and

(e) the time by which it is likely to be implemented?

(a), (b), (c), (d) and (e): A draft of the National Tourism Policy suggesting establishment of effective coordination mechanisms to achieve linkages and synergies in the policies and programmes of public and private agencies has been formulated.
